A Review Of Coffee Makers On The Dixon’s Website

Dixons

High street electricals retailer Dixon’s has set up a website that offers low priced products across its range. It’s another busy website with a lot of offers and specials boxes. But, as usual, finding the coffee makers section is easy enough. It doesn’t have a large selection of coffee makers but what it does have is well priced. This is another site where some of the images are not available.

Finding the website

You can visit the Dixon’s home page at www.dixons.co.uk.

A Selection of the Best Selling Coffee Machines from Dixons

When you reach the Dixon’s home page look for the tabs at the top of the page and click on ‘Kitchen’. This will bring up a selection of menus on the ‘Kitchen Appliances’ page. Go to the ‘Small Kitchen Appliances’ menu and click on ‘Coffee Makers’. This will bring up the ‘Coffee Makers’ page.

The selection available

The website has a limited selection of items but from amongst the most popular brands. Prices are reasonable and in the mid range of the price spectrum. Brands on offer include DeLonghi, Krups and Bosch. Items include filter coffee makers at the lower end of the price band, espresso machines, pod coffee makers and bean to cup items, the latter at the higher end of the price band.

Information provided on the site

You can refine your search by clicking on the ‘Brand’ button at the top of the page or the ‘Minimum value/maximum value’ button. You can also sort by price, lowest first or highest first.

Items are listed one after the other with an image on the left hand side of the item band. The full name and model number are given next to it as well as the function of the machine – whether its an espresso one or bean to cup example. Then the price is given and a ‘Buy’ button located on the right hand side of the band.

Underneath this button is a ‘More Information’ link and a ‘Compare button’. You can compare up to five items by clicking on the box of the items you want to compare then clicking the ‘Compare now’ button at the end of the list. Delivery status is listed under the product description and standard delivery is free in most cases.

Click the ‘More Information’ link to bring up the item page with a larger image that you can enlarge further. This brings up a more detailed image in a separate window. Thumbnails give you the opportunity to see the item in situ so you know what it looks like on a table or worktop.

On the right hand side of the page is a brief description of the coffee maker with a short list of features. You can click on ’View full product information’ to get a more detailed list of features. Here there is a text outline of the benefits of the machine such as automatic de-scaling on the Tassimo Multi-beverage, for instance and a list of features including machine type, bar code system, capacity and more. Underneath is a link that brings up a technical specifications list although this simply goes through a series of specs with a yes or no column to tell you whether the machine incorporates them or not. There are no dimension figures.

A ‘Cover Plan’ link outlines the benefits of adopting Dixon’s support scheme, a warranty programme that might be worth considering for peace of mind.

Under ‘Delivery’ click on the ‘Show Delivery Summary’ where you are given the option of standard delivery, 2-3 days after placing your order, or for a small extra charge, premium delivery, where you choose your own time slot for delivery. Click on ‘delivery services’ for more information on delivery. If your goods are sent by courier you are given a link to the courier’s website so you can track your order.

Buying from the website

When you’ve decided on a purchase, click on the ‘Add to Basket’ button or the ‘Buy’ button on the item band. This will bring you to a confirmation page. Click on ‘buy’ button to resume. This takes you to the ‘Shopping Basket’ page where your purchase is listed under Item Description, Quantity, Unit Price and Total Price. The sub-total excludes the price of delivery. Click on ‘Checkout’ to continue then follow on the payment and confirmation.

Finally

The Dixon’s website is well laid out and easy to navigate. Its range of coffee makers, however, is limited and the information given on each item could be improved. Nevertheless it’s easy to buy from and the delivery service is good.
