A Review Of Coffee Makers On The Comet Website

Comet

This is a fairly straightforward website well set out and easy to follow, listing all of their coffee makers. You can search by price, by delivery type, by brand, by review rating or by type. Comet offers a wide range of products and a good range of prices beginning from the very low and escalating to extremely pricey.

Finding the website

You can visit the Comet home page at www.comet.co.uk.

Finding the section on coffee makers

When you have found the website, click on kitchen and home. This brings up lists of appliances and the number of products available. Go to small appliances and click on coffee makers. On the left hand side of the page is a function to refine your results. You can search by price, by delivery by type, by brand, by review rating, by colour or by coffee maker type.

The selection available

The overall selection is good, starting with lower priced models and graduating to more expensive examples and a few very expensive ones. The list begins with best sellers at various prices. All of the major manufacturers are represented including Delonghi, Kenwood, Morphy Richards, Russell Hobbs, Krups, Kitchenaid, Jura and more.

Information provided on the site

A picture of the item is shown along with a brief description. The price is given and the original price if it’s a sale item. There is an icon to add the product to your wish list and another allowing you to upgrade your warranty cover. You can click on the ‘more information’ link to learn more.

This provides a larger image and a more detailed description, as well as delivery options. You can then click on specification, reviews, delivery/ collect from store or service and advice. Hovering over an information icon explains more about details and features. There is also a function in the upper left hand corner that allows you to search for similar coffee makers or view all of the manufacturers’ coffee makers. You can click on buy online or collect from store when you’ve decided on a purchase. A red flag by the item tells you if there is free delivery.

A link to Comet advice leads you to Comet’s Coffee Maker Buying Guide. This is useful if you don’t know whether you want a filter coffee maker, an espresso one or a combination. There is also advice on how to make the best cup of coffee.

Of general interest there is at the bottom of the site a customer service section with links to delivery, tracking your order, installation and recycling. And in some cases there are the ever-valuable customer ratings. This uses the star model, with five stars the highest rating.

The ‘tracking your order’ link is particularly useful as it allows you to check on the progress of your order. On the right of the page is a box where you enter your postcode, name and order number. There is a graphic at the bottom of the page to show you where to find your order number, so it’s all very easy.

It’s also useful to know that Comet offers a repair service for products even if they were not bought at one of their outlets. Note, however, that they do suggest for small appliances you contact the manufacturer directly.

The Comet home page has a useful services function under which you can find information on store finder, delivery, order tracking and replacing an old appliance. There’s also an award winning click and chat link that allows you to talk to a product expert, in this case a coffee machine expert, for advice. You simply click on the logo and wait for a window to appear then type in your question. The service won a Customer Initiative award for improving customer experience online.

Buying from the website

Buying from the website is easy enough. You click on ‘buy online’. This brings up the item that you can remove from the basket if you want to. You fill in the quantity and click either ‘collect from store’ or ‘home delivery’. Not all items are delivered free so it’s best to check. And there is the ‘Click and chat’ link at the top right of the page to help you complete your purchase.

Finally

Comet is a well-known and user-friendly outlet with a wide range of electrical products including a varied selection of coffee makers. The Comet website, like the store, is easy to use with the same selection of product available. You can spend as little or as much as you like getting the most functional or the very best. It’s a great site for browsing if you want to get the best out of your coffee beans.
