Zanussi is a popular brand name in the United Kingdom. It is now part of the AEG/Electrolux group. Its first success was a wood burning stove with a cast-iron hotplate. That was in 1920. In 1951 the company enjoyed another first by launching the first gas cooker in Europe. Then, in the 1980s it joined the Electrolux group.
Zanussi Coffee Makers from our Featured Retailers
Basically it’s known for its larger kitchen appliances such as fridges, cookers and washing machines, but it does produce a built in coffee maker to suit its kitchen range. Obviously built in machines are best purchased when you’re putting your kitchen together. However, if you’ve got the required empty space it’s not that hard to install.
Finding the website
There are no coffee makers on the regular Zanussi website. Instead go to www.Zanussi.co.uk/Zanussi2/uk_English/Coffee%20Maker.pdf . Or look for Zanussi coffee makers on Google and go to Zanussi (PDF). It’s a convoluted approach and why Zanussi doesn’t have coffee makers on its main site is not understood, until you realise how few there actually are.
Finding the section on coffee makers
When you’ve reached the home page you’re there. You’ve arrived at the built in machine site.
Selection available
According to the PDF you’ll fall in love with Zanussi’s built-in coffee machine. So, according to the site, there’s just one. Go to some of the on-line shops, however, and there seem to be more. They’re all built-in, though, and may include a selection of older models that are no longer made by the company or they’re variations on the same model.
Information provided on the site
Information is well laid out and clear. You’re told all you should need to know about built in units. It has a modern brushed steel finish, bright interior light, push button controls and coffee bean grinder.
On the first page of the PDF site there is a rundown with illustrations of the main features of the coffee machine under the headings ‘Design’, ‘Coffee Solutions’,’ Preferred Style’ and ‘1-2 cup selection’. Under ‘Design’ you learn that the package is styled to coordinate with the other appliances in your kitchen. It can be installed in column with other Zanussi products. And it’s installed on telescopic runners for ease of use.
‘Coffee solutions’ is about what kinds of coffee you can use, including fresh beans and pre-ground, used with the coffee press, or ease-of-use coffee pods. ‘Preferred Style’ introduces you to styles of coffee available. You can prepare espresso, cappuccino, latte or long drinks, the latter made possible through the machine’s hot water dispenser. The frother spout can be used for those late night milky drinks. The ‘1-2 Selection’ system allows you to prepare two cups in the same amount of time as one.
The second PDF page shows an image on the right hand side of the page and technical details on the left. One useful feature here is the stainless steel finish the machine uses that is fingerprint-proof. The pre-programmed coffee dispenser allows you to make the perfect cup of espresso every time. There is a filter holder as well and choice of spouts so you can make 1 or 2 cups at a time. The steam spout can also be used to prepare hot chocolate or tea.
As it’s a built in unit the drawer features are noted. There’s a compartment for cups and saucers, one for machine accessories, a dish for cold coffee grounds and a useful serving tray. The whole thing is cleanable with a soft cloth while the drawer liner and waste dish are both dishwasher safe.
Where to buy
You can buy Zanussi coffee machines at Sainsbury’s or Boots outlets as well as a number of other electrical appliance dealers. There is no list of suppliers on the coffee website.
Buying from the website
There is no provision for buying from the website. You can, however buy the product from a number of specialist websites, such as Electricshop and Shopping.com.
If anything goes wrong with your machine and you need spare parts or you want that accessory you should have bought in the first place you can go to www.4Zanussi.co.uk/Spares .
Finally
This isn’t a website for the coffee buff; rather it’s one for those looking for a built-in coffee machine to complement their kitchen, or who are loyal to the Zanussi brand. It gives all the technical data and features information you’ll need to help you purchase if you’re looking for a machine that’s simple to use and easy to keep clean. It’s a good coffee maker, and as it’s only dealing with one item it’s an easy to use site – once you’ve found it.
