Operating for over 50 years, Dualit are manufacturers of catering equipment for commercial use, especially toasters, but they have a home selection as well. They pride themselves on being essentially British, which means hard working, sturdy but well designed product. Their website – which is simply laid out but functional – features a new espresso coffee machine in the Espressivo range and a percolator. Finding the section on coffee makers
This is a very easy navigation. When you reach the Dualit home page you’ll see a menu with the headings ‘Toasters’, ‘Catering’ and ‘home’. Under the “home’ heading, you need to click on Espresso Coffee machines for espresso makers, and ‘Coffee’ for percolators. Alternatively go to their ‘Welcome’ page and click on the ‘Product Range’ tab. Then type ‘coffee’ in the search box and click on the ‘go’ button. This will bring up the whole range.
The selection available
Dualit has a very limited selection. There is the espresso coffee maker in both polished steel and cream and a percolator.
Information on the website
The item page is dedicated to the Espressivo coffee maker. There is an image to the left hand side of the page showing the two colours, cream and polished metal. Click on an image to show a larger one and the dimensions of the machine as well as kW loading and weight. There is also a product PDF that you can click on to show a much larger and clearer image as well as outlining the features.
It’s a good-looking machine without being overly fussy. Like all Dualit products it’s built to last, made of highest quality stainless steel and cast aluminium for the body. It features sleek curves, tactile materials chunky dials and a compact size.
Features include a self-priming 15 bar pressure for the perfect ‘crema’, a warm up time of less than 40 seconds, Thermobloc heating to provide hot water and steam instantly, 1.5L removable water tank, large cup warming plate, extra cup height clearance to accommodate mugs and accessory holder. And of course there’s an easy-to-use steaming and milk frother.
Coffee options include single serve, double serve as well as ESE pod.
Dualit’s coffee percolator is of the cordless variety – the cord comes from an axis rotary docking base. It will make up to 10 cups of coffee in 9 minutes. It also has a ‘stay warm’ function the keeps the coffee hot for hours. You can monitor the strength of the coffee through the transparent lid.
Other features include a heatproof handle and large heatproof ball knob and finger guard – good if you’re making your coffee early in the morning after a night out – oversized non-drip spout and neon light that changes colour from orange when brewing to green when the coffee is ready to drink.

Buying from the website
This is an easy enough procedure. When you’ve decided to buy, click on the ‘Add to Basket’ button at the bottom of the item page. You need to register first, either Master Card Secure Code or Verified by Visa. You can also contact your bank directly to register. Once you’ve chosen your password you can continue to buy online from Dualit without re-registering. All of the usual security measures are taken to safeguard your credit card details.
Once registered, you can proceed through payment and delivery. Dualit aims to deliver all orders within 7 working days. Made to order items take longer but that doesn’t apply to coffee makers as yet.
Dualit have quite a good returns policy. Any item can be returned for any reason within 14 days of the date of despatch, so long as it’s returned unused in its original packaging along with the receipt.
